Byron A. Freymiller, was born on October 30, 1923 in Marion Township Grant County Wisconsin. He married the love of his life Betty Welsh on October 27, 1948 at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien WI. Byron and wife Betty farmed for most of their lives but Byron’s true passion was playing his guitar and singing. In later years Byron was stricken with debilitating arthritis and could no longer play the guitar. He’s spirit though was always at it’s best and he would never turn down the opportunity to grab the mic and share his favorite songs. Byron passed away at age 87 on May 9th 2011, just a little over a year after his beloved wife Betty. Byron’s musical career lasted over 60 years but his legacy will go one for much longer. Byron’s arthritic hands were the inspiration for the painting you see below entitled “Grandpa meets
Byron” and the photos of Byron are with a close friend Roddy Dull, one of his favorite accompanist. Byron Freymiller is the first of many to be inducted into the”Live Music USA” Hall of Fame. |
